So I've gone to get my coffee (Chuck's home) and ready tackle the rest of my family's trip to the Northwest! Hey, they're closed tomorrow so I'll have to get my fill today!
Wednesday we went to Mt. Rainier. My family has been here a number of times but we've never taken them to Mt. Rainier. We can actually see it from our house (not very well) and it looks so close, and the signs say it's only about 50 miles away. But it takes about an hour and a half to drive up to Paradise, the highest you can drive on the volcano. Yeah, let's not forget it's a volcano! I think the 50 miles is just to the entrance of the park.
Us getting ready. Now, if you remember, this is the last time I went snowshoeing on Mt. Rainier. Read about our experience. It was tough!! I was hoping to take my family on a bit easier of a route. That was the plan.
This is us getting ready. None of them had been besides me!

Andy on the way up.

We had to stop a few times on the way up. I carried Aaron the whole way up so it was pretty tough!

Still on the way up

And this is at the top. When we stopped Aaron was a bit frustrated because he was tired and cold and hungry (probably) and I didn't bring anything for him to eat to on the hike, so I was trying to calm him by playing with the snow. It worked for a short time...

This is Mt. Rainier from where we stopped our hike

These are the foothills and there in the distance you can see Mt. Adams, another volcano that's a bit south and a bit nearer to Mt. St. Helens.

Dana and Andy

Basically it was hard going up. There weren't many groomed trails yet, it's a bit early in the season. So we basically went straight up. Grrrrr....but everyone did really well. My knee is clicking now, and I think it's because I carried Aaron all the way up. Oh well, something to make me realize my age, right? But at the top Aaron was so angry that I ended up giving him to Andy and he carried him the way back down because I knew they'd go a bit faster and I wanted to stay with Mom and Dad. It worked out, and I was grateful Andy offered.
Just a couple pics on the way down

At night, sometimes the volcano (which we, inaccurately, refer to the mountain) gets this deep red color to it with the sun setting. It's beautiful and this picture doesn't do it justice.

Look at that purple sky! All because of the sunset. I had never seen this little church before, it's so cute!

Then, that evening, I fixed a GREAT pork tenderloin and other good stuff and we had Christmas!

I think Mom was cold

Just starting out

Actually getting the hang of delivering gifts to everyone

Aaron's new hat

Hmmm...what could this be?

Blocks!!! YAY!!!

Ohhh, something that makes noise!

Hmmm. What could this be?

Oh, a scale, maybe. Is this what's in the box?

Oooohh! Clothes!

Eh, anything else in there??

Some videos to follow, hold your horses! They're uploading. I never remember until the end of the post, sorry!
