The last days

Alright, this one is more image heavy than the last days, but it's the last three days of our trip. All in all it was a great trip, there were some stumbling blocks and some unexpected things, but we made it, saw a lot of things and had a great time!
We had just started our way up to Lassen Volcanic National Park and we saw a lot of agriculture. I never knew there was so much ag stuff in Cali until I went there!! Of course there were tons of vineyards!!

Tomatoes

Some people flipped their RV with their truck attached. People were slowing down quite quickly and we were behind a semi so Chuck decided he was going to get over in the right lane (it looked like the left lane was open). We were so thankful for God telling us to get over because not 15 seconds later a little pickup we'd passed earlier didn't see people slowing down and slammed on his breaks and went skidding sideways and almost hit the end of the semi! Chuck was like, is he okay, is he okay? He thought he was going to have to get out and be a doctor! But he made it and was driving in the grass near the orchard. Chuck thought he flipped. Good grief! Thank you God!

These are olives. Do olives grow in orchards or fields?...hmmmm.

Aaron enjoying his paci. He usually only uses this at night but our schedule was so crazy for that week he pretty much had it all the time in case he wanted to fall alseep.

Lassen Volcanic National Park

A steaming hill

Man, this one was loud!

Lassen Peak

We wanted to get to a place called Bumpass Hell but we had to hike 1.5 miles. I didn't pack anything to actually carry Aaron with, just the stroller. We thought we could do it...not so much.

We ditched the stroller, hid it in some trees and hiked anyway.

Welcome to Bumpass Hell.

Hello little chipmunk

See? I promised you boiling mud pots, you got boiling mud pots.

And again.

I thought the last steaming pit was loud, THIS one was loud!

Lassen Peak

I also promised a forest fire, here's a forest fire. We were probably pretty lucky, time wise. They had probably just opened this road.

If you can see (this was taken out our sun roof), there's a pretty good fire going in the middle of the picture.

It was really cool what the smoke did to the sun, this was the best pic I could get.

This is Mt. Shasta.

This is Crater Lake. We came here a couple years ago on our Redwoods trip, but I got our pics developed (I only had my film and small digital cameras then) and they developed them super dark and ruined the negatives because of the way they developed them. Grrrrrrr... So we decided to hit this on the way home because these came out particularly dark. Beautiful! Isn't God good? It's absolutely breathtaking!

The official driver of the bunch

Chuck was also very nice and drove to the coast so we could hit the sea caves again (darn you, Walmart!). These came out so dark you could hardly make out the seals from the dark rocks. This time we paid to go into the caves. It was kind of a bust, but glad we did it. Not many seals around this time.

This was from the top of the cave, if you can see all the way down the stairs, that's where a few pics back was taken, you can see the water all the way down...

There's a storm rolling in...

And someone was tired.

This was Newport where we stayed the night for our last night. Pretty foggy, but never stormed. Chuck took me to a nice local sea food restaurant in town for our 6th anniversary. Thanks, Honey, it was very nice!

When we got back we let Aaron run around without a diaper because he had some nasty diaper rash. Poor guy! He'd been sitting so much in the car and the stroller. This is how he repaid us...it's okay, he was constipated..

We stopped at the Tillamook cheese factory.

As stated, they make cheese. But they also make all sorts of dairy, including ICE CREAM!!!! Let me just tell you, we had no idea what we were missing. And then when we got home, Chuck found it at Walmart and bought some. It's to die for!!!!

Packaging the cheese, it was interesting...

We got some cheese to take home, but he was hungry!

This is Astoria. Right here is the Columbia river and the other way is where the river meets the ocean. They have coast guard people get on each ship and lead it in and out of the river because there is a very narrow channel and the waves at the confluence get very high.

Last picture of the trip, now who would put this on a tow truck, uncovered, when it's going to rain????? Obviously they don't deserve this car so I offered to take it off their hands. They declined ever so nicely.

That's all folks! I have some video I'll upload and post over the next couple of days. Most of it's pretty funny...tune in later!

Of course they have tomatoes in Cali. Don't you remember when Uncle Jesse went skydiving before the wedding and got stuck in that tree, looks like the one in your pic, and then he unhooks himself and falls into a bed of tomatoes in a truck and then he goes to jail for it?! Duh!! ha ha!!! I watch too much Full House!!!
