Be prepared. I have a LOAD of American Bald Eagles (that's what Delaney calls them, it's sweet).
But they are SO COOL!! We just don't see them like this here in the states. I'm sure people here in the states also cannot bait/feed them since they're protected. I'm not sure. It was just, what we call, "spray and pray". Kind of like when I shoot a toddler, I move my camera a lot and I keep my finger on the shutter. Whew!
First, a few more bear pictures. Now, having been home for a while, it's so cool to look back and think "wow, we really did see grizzly bears in the wild!!"
Then there's these two...
Then she decided to take a little bath.
She rubbed her face a lot. It was kind of funny to think they rub their faces in the water like we do.
This was the only other place that can take you up into the reserve. And you have to fly into it.
She was so tired. She slept like this for a good hour.
Then it was time for the eagles. Like I said, they just threw animal scraps in the water. They saw our boat coming and one just started following us knowing what was coming.
This one was eating some scraps already. It took me a while to get the hang of moving so quickly!
This one is a juvenile. There were quite a few of these around but they were somewhat unsure of what the boat was doing. They weren't as daring as the adults were. It takes bald eagles 5 years to get their white heads.
First one of the eagle getting the food. Man, I screwed this up about 10 times before I got this one.
These two decided to start fighting over the food...
Sorry, but not sorry, there are so many... :) And this is only a fraction of what I took. The others either didn't turn out because their blurry (missed focus, they move FAST!) or just weren't as good.
It was just a nice day, super sunny, not too hot/cold, and relaxing, which was just what the doctor ordered at this point in our trip.
He has so much fun taking pictures with my little camera.
Don't you think that's enough for today?
