When we got to Prince Rupert, it didn't take us long to decide it was a...how should we say...a seedy town. There wasn't much to do, people picking used cigarettes off the street, lots of police presence at certain hotels...kind of like Olympia. We didn't want to stick around for too long without something to do so we decided to pay for a Grizzly Bear Tour. It took 7 hours and included lunch so we gave it a go. It was a super nice day, very beautiful weather, lovely boat and nice water, and stunning views. What more could you ask for?
This was Port Simpson, an old town that we picked some nurses up from. It was on the way and very convenient for the nurses.
And this is a new seafood cannery they built.
Then I thought this was a jackpot:
And this
And this! That's a juvenile on the left. It takes 5 years to get their white heads.
And then there's this one.
We boated near a rock that had (key word: had) harbor seals on it. But it also had really awesome star fish on it.
And before we even got into the sanctuary we started seeing bears.
Isn't she awesome?!
Yes, I said she...because... See that little head right over the rock?
Oh, but wait!! There's TWO little ones!
She was having a great time, just was tired of standing already.
Isn't this an awesome boat? It was very nice. This was the top, I never even got up there.
This is a Canadian Coast Guard ship.
Not too far down the way we found another grizzly. This one just kept digging. Had no idea we were even there, just kept showing us her butt.
Made sure to get a picture of us on the boat.
It was the most gorgeous setting. Not too hot, not too cold. It was so great. And very smooth.
These were a bunch of seals sunning themselves.
Can you see that one? I couldn't either until we got much closer...
Apparently this is a 3 year old cub. They find her quite often.
I think that's enough for now. I'll make another post with the rest. Have a great day!!
