The first thing on the agenda for Aaron's birthday was school and his very last field trip of the school year. We went to Taylor Shell Fish which is a farm for clams and such on the sound.
The beach was absolutely covered with these very tiny crabs. If you let yourself think about it, you wouldn't walk anywhere for fear of stepping on every single last one of them.
This is a moon snail. They were quite large and heavy. And slimy! They were in the water. The attach themselves to the live clams and slowly drill a hole in the clam and eat the clam. We found one of these already attached to the clam and you could see the hole it was working on. So interesting. The girl that worked there who was with us said every once in a while they go throughout the water at low tide and pick them all up because they are predators on their farm.
And THIS is their eggs!! That weird looking round thing. She said it mixes it's eggs with mucus and sand and it leaves it on the beach. These things were ALL over the beach/water. When we asked her what these were that was NOT what I expected her to say.

It was a very long day. Aaron had a super hard time waiting for Daddy to come home from work.
First up was a pogo stick!
Next up? Roller skates. He's seriously been asking for these since September when I got them for Delaney's birthday.
And then some Lego Star Wars books. In love!!
