Projects galore

One of the other projects I wanted to work on was a sewing table. A while back I purchased two of the same table from IKEA and had found a blog post by a lady that did this project. We had to modify it a tad and figure something's out on our own (because she neglected to define a few steps) but we got it done.

First we had to measure some supports for the underside of the table. Then we traced and cut out the opening where the sewing machine was to go.

No going back now!!

Then we just had to slowly and carefully trim out more and more in certain places so the machine would rest snugly but nicely in the opening.

And then we had to sand the edges and places that needed a tiny bit more taken off.

After the supports were placed we had to measure the support board to attach to the supports.

And this is the finished look! And it goes right next to another table that is the same. So lots of space to spread out and sew or lots of space to spread out and scrap!

Mom and Delaney and Aaron had to watch Frozen!

Our next, and second largest, project was a shelf. This is the idea:

As you can see, they are not cheap. However, I've run into a couple blogs/websites that have free plans and instructions on how to build many different things. And this was one of them.

In March when Dad and Dana came out, Dad and I cut 95% of the wood for the shelf. And here it is laid out.

Here is a couple of the shelves put together. Getting the hang of the brad gun was a trip but we got it down after a bit.

They suggested how to put some supports under the shelves and we decided to do it a different way.

Dad is drawing out where to brad the shelves to the uprights so they are level.

And here we are at the end!! Now I just need to sand and paint.

Another small project was the put in a trellis for one of the green bean plants. It was wanting to climb. It started winding its way around in less than 24 hours. It's amazing how a plant knows what to do!

Whew!! This is at the end of our time. We accomplished a lot of goals. Other projects we did was put in a ceiling fan in the guest room, restain the picnic table, and hang some items around the house.

Our reward? Dairy Queen!
