Trip Home for Christmas

Well, we finally made it back home for Christmas. The first time since 2005. There was lots to do, people to see and fun to have!

First stop was St. Louis. Up at 2:30 am, a layover in Denver where we had to sprint from one end of the terminal to the other in 30 minutes with two tired kids and then another flight to our destination. We flew in the Sunday before Christmas and had just enough time to take some naps before family started arriving to celebrate with my moms side of the family.

The kids are the only ones who did Christmas "presents" this year. Kids always love presents and that way all the adults could just spend time talking and catching up.

Delaney got a pad of paper that had a dot game (where you play with someone and draw squares). She was a real hit handing them out to everyone.

We went bowling. Delaney and Aaron have never been bowling before. You'll notice there are no pictures of Aaron bowling...because he was puking his guts out... :( It was so sad. But now he's all better. This trip, in general, was a puky situation for Aaron...

The next day was Christmas Eve. Downtown St. Charles has a bit event with Christmas characters from all different times and cultures. It was fun to go see all the different types of characters and hear about them and learn. Some of them sang, some of them were really funny, some of them argued and created a scene. They were very good at engaging even the youngest crowds.

And most of them had cards to hand out with their pictures, names and their abbreviated stories on them.

That night we went to church. I'm always a little leary of taking the kids to my church with us because it's very quiet and...buttoned up. Compared to the church we attend in Washington. But when we went this summer and Christmas Eve, they did very well. My dad even complimented them on how well they did. Unfortunately we didn't go to the candle lit service. a service that STARTS at 10:30pm just isn't the right choice for us at this time... Eventually.

They even went up to the front to participate in the children's sermon. They did so well.

Of course the next morning was Christmas!!!!

And then I made my family dress nicely and head out in the freezing cold to take a family picture.

Then my mom had Chuck (the kids) cut down the yellow ribbon.

Friday we went to the Museum of Transport to see a special Macy's model train setup. The kids always love this museum.

They have lots of old cars and such.

And tons (literally) of old trains.

That's about it for this round. :) More another day!

I need to take my kids back to the Museum of Transportation. Price loves trains and we had a lot of fun the last time we went! I hope we can catch you in St. Charles or KC next time you're in!!
