I have been getting random thoughts in my head for the last week. This is not a good things (to me) because it makes it very hard to concentrate on the task at hand (chores, Aaron, Bible study, etc.). But I thought I would share them here because:
a) hopefully they will leave my head
b) maybe it will get you thinking (is that a bad thing?)
1. STOP CHARGING
I can't find it right now, but I was watching GMA this week and it said that in the last few years our country's debt to other countries has absolutely skyrocketed. This isn't only because of our government, but also the consumers of the country. I heard a great quote today: "Spend what you HAVE, not what you ASPIRE to have." If you can pay off your credit card bill when you get it in the mail, this does not pertain to you. They rules of credit cards are going to change, and soon! Rates are going to go up and you're going to come tumbling down...
2. KEEP SPENDING MONEY
But ask yourself:
-Do I need this? (I ask myself this all the time. It doesn't necessarily mean I don't buy it even if I don't, but it definitely helps!!!)
OR BETTER
-Will I actually use this? Will I get my money out of it?
3. JUST BECAUSE YOU DON'T AGREE WITH SOMEONE ELSE:
-doesn't mean you're a bigot. This term gets thrown about like confetti!!
-doesn't mean you're right.
-doesn't mean everyone else is stupid
4. DON'T SPEND BEYOND YOUR MEANS
Basically what #1 says. Don't live like you want to live unless you CAN pay cash for what you want.
5. WE ALL THINK ABOUT OUR "PRIORITIES" AT RANDOM TIMES,
but have you ever made a list? A visual?
6. THINK
before you give the excuse "I don't have the time/money for that". People aren't blind/stupid. They see what you spend your time/money on. So, before you give the excuse, make up a better lie to get out of something they are asking you to do/give money to or actually find something better to spend your time/money on. Is there something better?
7. ON THE OTHER SIDE
don't judge people because they spend their money/time differently than you do/would.
Common theme for this post? Personal responsibility.
Feel free to comment, but this is really so I can just get my thoughts down.
